East Kildonan and Morse Place street car service will combine with Osborne St. service Jan. 3, according to an announcement made today by Winnipeg Electric Co.
At the same time, Selkirk Ave. street cars will combine with St. Anne's and St. Mary's cars.
Company officials said "it is hoped these new combinations will make for improved regularity of service and better accommodation."
Inbound cars on Selkirk Ave., starting Tuesday, will be signed "Broadway 3" and "Union Station 51"
At Logan Ave., and Main St., cars signed "Broadway 3" will turn off Main St., to Princess, south to Portage Ave., crossing Portage at Donald St., and south to Broadway, then west on Broadway to Osborne St.
Outbound Selkirk cars will start at Memorial Blvd. and Portage Ave., and will run south to Broadway and Osborne St., then turn east on Broadway.
Cars tabbed "Selkirk 96" will turn off at Broadway and Donald St. north to Portage Ave., then across Portage Ave., bound for Selkirk Ave. Cars signed "Selkirk 51" will continue along Broadway to Main St., and then head north to Selkirk Ave.
St. Mary's and St. Anne's routes are unaffected by this change except that it is expected that the new combination in the downtown circuit will improve regularity of service.
