Re: 'Lots of dough and no plan,' Tim Friesen, Feb. 3.
It is interesting to note Friesen's satirical commentary concerning the city's failure to adopt a rapid transit system, especially in view of the Winnipeg Sun's opposition to any form of rapid transit as it is a waste of money and we don't need it.
It might be of interest to Sun readers that in 1959, Norman Wilson pointed out that in order for public transit to become competitive with the automobile the city would need to build a subway -- never mind a BRT or an LRT.
While Friesen is right that there is enough money in Ottawa to build rapid transit in Winnipeg three times over, do you think that the civic politicians care -- especially in view of the non-existent support by the business community for any form of rapid transit, be it subway, LRT or BRT?
