Re Tom Brodbeck's article
— Pulling off a fast one? — of June 30.
I hope Mayor Sam Katz acts upon
his instincts regarding the apparent deceit by Coun. Russ Wyatt
regarding plans for our new transit system. I have never favoured a
system using existing roadways, but I feel any changes to the plan
should be discussed with the mayor and an explanation given to the
public.
Were changes made because of the comments/reactions of the public? Did the task force, upon further analysis, realize their original plan was really not suitable, or progressive enough, for Winnipeg?
There has to be a reason. I certainly hope there is an investigation into what Coun. Wyatt is up to for he is in a position to make decisions that will affect the people of our city for many, many years into the future.
I strongly favour separate
dedicated bus corridors over existing roadway diamond lanes, so the
"revised" plan appears a little more to my liking. However, I am very
disturbed that a councillor, trusted to thoroughly investigate and
propose a plan, appears to be playing games with such a major issue to
further his own ends.
To Mayor Katz, I say: Keep your back to the wall — whether Coun. Wyatt is in the room or not.
