With the continued in-fighting at City Hall over the so-called plans for improving transit in Winnipeg, it is becoming clear that the Transit workshops were nothing more than a stalling tactic to waste citizens' time and resources while council continues to ignore the everyday realities afflicting Winnipeggers.
Amazingly, a similar workshop was foisted on the citizens last Tuesday for Waverley West, proving there is nothing resembling a plan for even that small area of the city. Doubling Kenaston Boulevard south of Wilkes will only double the parking spaces for cars waiting to filter through River Heights; the option of sitting on a bus in a diamond lane clogged with cars turning right and snowbanks and potholes remains viable only in the minds of those pretending to lead at City Hall.
Winnipeg, a city of unlimited potential, is being held hostage by a council and mayor with tired old ideas, myopic vision and total lack of courageous leadership. While council focuses on persecuting "messy" gardeners, studies red tape and continues discussing Portage and Main, the city becomes mired deeper and deeper into the mud of petty politics.
