Mayor Sam Katz's search for the best transit system for Winnipeg — and more immigrants to boost the city's population — has reached Southeast Asia. When Katz returns from Manilla in the Philippines this week, he hopes to bring back more ideas and options for his rapid transit task force to consider.

"We took a tour and ride on their metro transit system. It's rail fuelled by electricity. And we had a meeting with the department," Katz told The Sun from Manila, where he led a 12-member trade delegation.
