Being a former Winnipegger, I can see the need for world class indoor recreational facilities, like the proposed water park, but at the expense of rapid transit? The narrowmindedness of those running Winnipeg will keep its backwoods, stuck-in-the-mud image intact -- not only for the minds of other Canadians, but for the world to see. B.C. just announced a $14-Billion plan to improve rapid and bus transit in this province's four major urban areas, and you spend your trnsit dollars on a swimming pool?
Who is going to want to wait 45 minutes in minus 40 Celcius (with the windchill) for a 40-minute ride, maybe with a transfer or two, to "catch some gnarly waves dude"?
I am sure the 1970s were a great time, but it is almost 2010, Winnipeg, and you have lots of catching up to do.
