MAYOR Sam Katz made a pledge to improve public transit in the last election campaign but his executive committee opted to push any debate for a rapid transit reserve fund to 2008.
The motion passed by Katz and the councillors on his executive committee stated that setting up a reserve fund to finance the construction of rapid transit would only be considered during the 2008 budget process. The proposal envisioned contributing $5.5 million to a rapid transit reserve fund in its first year and then adding to it every year.
