LETTER: Give riders proper shelter

Thank you Lindsey Wiebe for an excellent article outlining the plight of Winnipeg bus riders.

Heating in bus shelters has often been non-existent and insufficient, considering the fact that wall panels stop five inches from the ground. I fully approve of sufficient heating in bus shelters; yet, it might be a better idea to put doors in all the other bus shelters. Most of them don't have doors. What is the use of a bus shelter when it has a gaping hole in it where a door should be?

As for the much-touted new bus shelters with "unbreakable" walls, I've seen two of these walls broken already. One can only wonder: Who are the contractors? And how are they monitored?
