The city has chosen an engineer from its water and waste department to lead Winnipeg Transit.

Dave Wardrop replaces Rick Borland, who stepped down last fall after Mayor Sam Katz cancelled the long-planned bus rapid transit program.

The city's rapid transit task force is now tweaking its plans for a scaled-down version of the original BRT system. One of Wardrop's biggest tasks will be to turn that plan into reality.
